My Special Boy

Who is Alexander?

He gets so excited about one or two things/toys that it is ALL he will play with for weeks or months.  And when he plays, he is so involved that you can see the passion in his eyes.

He is someone who often plays more with toys I've made him (painted blocks or felt "bad guys"), than any of the fanciest things from the toy store.

All I have to do at any time is reach out an arm, and he'll come give me a hug.

Every time I pick him up at school, he walks until he sees me.  Then he starts running!

He is a boy who WANTS so badly to be a good friend but he just doesn't know how to. He often tells me I am his best friend.  He has yet to make a friend after 3 years of going to school.

He is a boy who tells me "I love you" more than 10 times every single day.

He trusts me completely.

He loves computer games, and plays them with a passion and immersion unlike anyone I've ever seen.

He often doesn't know or understand when kids tease him and call him names.  He won't stop asking to play with them until I am forced to tell him that they are not being nice to him and breaking the "rules" of being good kids.

He starts bargaining about bedtime as soon as he wakes up.  He hates bedtime.

His solution for getting rid of bedtimes is to "destroy the moon".  He is sure it could be done with a big rocket.

When I tell him something is a bad word, he never says it again. Literally.

Once someone casually told him his breath smelled like peppers.  He took it to heart, and now refuses to eat them, even if he likes them a lot.

He loves science as much as I do, and when medications are not working and he is awake at 2am, he loves watching Animal Planet, while cuddling me.   As much as I want to have "evenings" and don't want to be up in the middle of the night - our late night cuddles are so very precious.

He is brutally honest. Always.

He thinks we can buy money at the "money store" (I wish!).

He is shocked and disappointed EVERY time bedtime happens!

Right now he only eats carrots. And cookies.

He is the only person I've met who is happier after a whole night of not sleeping.  He went 40 hours without sleep earlier this week, and he was absolutely thrilled the whole time.

He has an amazing imagination, and if I let him, he will continue playing all day (and night).

He never says "I'm bored".

He is very caring - even if sometimes his actions make it look like he doesn't.

He is an amazing Alexander.
